Design Like You Give a Damn

In it's third edition now, DLYGAD chronicles the founding of Architecture for Humanity (AFH), the San Francisco based 501(c)3 that aims to improve the living conditions of the 5 billion people who are living in sub-standard conditions. In addition to this beautiful and inspirational book, AFH has also launched the open Architecture Network for designers, architects, community leaders, and NGO's to collaborate on designs for housing and community centers intended for displaced persons who have been forced out of their homes and communities due to natural disasters and conflicts:  http://openarchitecturenetwork.org/
