The LC-52LE920UN is a 52" widescreen HDTV from Sharp's flagship AQUOS LE920 Series for 2010. The TV features an X-Gen LCD display along with Sharp's UltraBrilliant Edge-lit LED backlighting to produce deep blacks and vibrant coloration. It offers a full HD 1080p resolution and includes AquoMotion 240 technology for a fast refresh rate to reduce motion blur. It also features Sharp's Four Primary Color Technology which adds yellow to the RGB gradient, allowing it to accurately render nearly every color. The LC-52LE920UN comes with AQUOS Net connectivity for streaming video and has a USB media player for playing music, photos, or video on the TV. The LG 47LK520 is a mid-range LCD television that displays in full 1080p high definition. Others in the series include the 42 inch 42LK520 and 55 inch 55LK520 which otherwise share the same features. This series is designed to support fast-moving video with TruMotion 120Hz mode, enabling fast action sequences to be shown in detail without blur or stutter. Colors are managed through the Picture Wizard II system that allows users to adjust the picture's tone easily, while 8 separate picture modes, 3 color temperature modes and 6 aspect ratio settings allow full control of the viewing experience. The Vizio E371VA is a mid-range to high-end 37" LCD 1080p HDTV very similar to the Vizio E320VA. Besides its superior size and native resolution, the E371VA boasts some important improvements over the E320VA, namely a 120Hz refresh rate and a photo viewing feature via USB. Otherwise, the E320VA and E371VA sport the same basic features, such as 4HDMI ports and an inbuilt ambient light sensor.

Sharp Aquos LC-60LE830U

The Aquos LC-60LE830U is a high-definition LCD HDTV from Sharp's LE830 Series. The LE830 Series features Sharp's Quattron quad pixel technology with which they've added the colour yellow to the standard RGB pixel format. This addition means that the TV produces a wider spectrum of colours with more realistic colouration than standard RGB HDTVs. The TV also has Quad Pixel Plus technology for processing higher resolution images and removing any jags.

The LC-60LE830U is the largest model in the series with a larger 60" edge-lit LED panel that includes X-Gen technology to produce a higher contrast level. It features built-in 10-watt speakers as well as a 15-watt subwoofer for accompanying audio and also offers dual USB media players for playing videos, music, or images.

The LC-60LE830U is a step down from Sharp's Aquos LC-60LE832U since it only has a 120Hz refresh rate and lacks the AquoMotion 240Hz refresh of the LE832 series. Samsung 7 Series (2008)

The Samsung 750 series, also known as the 7 series is positioned above the 650 series, which are also considered part of the high-end sets, with many similarities between the two. As expected from a high-end 2008 LCD the 750 series features a native resolution of 1080p, a 120Hz mode. Alongside these standards is the addition of an Ethernet port for accessing real-time content like weather, stocks and news, and a USB port for accessing pictures and video from connected storage devices. Importantly, the 7 series has a subwoofer and much better sound than both 6-series and 8-series televisions. While the 6 series has a USB port, the 6 series is limited to images/sound while the 7 series televisions can display video from both the USB port and through the ethernet port.

750 series specific features

DLNA Support - Stream video, image, and music content over your home network. The TV has support for a wide variety of CODECs including DivX and XVid, and can support hi-def resolutions.

USB Port - The USB port lets you connect storage devices such as portable hard drives, or thumb drives and access the content within. Details aren't currently available but most like the TV can read content stores on devices that act as a USB Mass Storage (UMS) device.

1GB of Internal Memory - It's unknown whether or not you will be able to overwrite the content stored on this internal memory. Samsung reports that it will come preloaded with "premium" content such as HD art, recipes and children's stories.

Integrated woofer - for an enhanced audio experience (10W x 2, like the 650 model.)

750 and 650 features

"Touch of Color" - in a break away from the traditional black or really black choices that most televisions offer Samsung is introducing a little bit of color to these sets. During the manufacturing process the bevel has some color applied to it, with auburn being the initial option and more colors expected over time.

Ethernet port - the included ethernet port will allow you to access RSS feeds and other real time content to display sports information, news, stocks and weather. It's currently unknown whether other forms of content such as full Internet access will be available in the future.

4 HDMI ports - the lower level series feature 3 HDMI ports, with the high-end models adding an extra HDMI port for more expandability. All HDMI ports are version 1.3.

Anti-glare screen - first introduced in the Samsung's 71F series of television released in 2007, Samsung claims they have improved the glossy anti-glare screen to reduce glare and reduce reflections.

3D support - the televisions can accept and properly display 3D content. If you have the proper glasses and source conent the TV will handle 3D images.

Sony's BRAVIA KDL-40BX420 is a mid-range HDTV and is the middle model in the BX420 set of products. Its features are practically the same as the others, the main distinguishing factor being the 40" display size. Main features include multiple HD inputs (PC, HDMI and Component) and an automatic brightness selector based on the light conditions in the room. It has integrated speakers as well as a 5.1-channel audio output. It automatically shuts off when not in use, and has a 176 degree viewing angle from both vertical and horizontal directions. Its remote control can sync with other BRAVIA products, such as receivers or disc players, to act as a universal remote. Sony BRAVIA S5100 Series

The BRAVIA S-Series is Sony's entry level line of 1080p HDTVs with the 2009 versions taking on the S5100 Series model name. As an update to 2008's S4100s the 2009 models take features from the high-end 2008 models, namely the dynamic backlight, the improved BRAVIA Engine 2, and the BRAVIA Sync/BRAVIA Link technologies. One of the defining characterstics of the S-Series has been that it trumps competitive entry-level 1080p sets as it uses a 10-bit processor and 10-bit display for higher picture quality. These sets are the step up to the L5000 Series which have a lower 720p native resolution, and are a step below the V5100s which add a fourth HDMI port, and 120Hz display mode.

Light sensor with dynamic backlight - a sensor inside the TV is able to detect the amount of ambient light in the room and adjust the backlight accordingly. So when the room is bright the TV will become brighter, and vice versa in a darker room.

USB port - plug in a Universal Mass Storage Device into this port and the television can display the photos or music contained inside. The higher end sets can also play digital media files that are stored on the USB stick.

BRAVIA Engine - This is Sony's image processing engine that handles the incoming video signals and processes them to modify and enhance the picture. This processing attempts to adjust colors, define lines, and in general improve the look of the TV. The 2008 entry-level televisions contained the first generation BRAVIA Engine, while the BE2 was limited to the high end sets. For 2009 the entry-level gets the BE2, while the high-end sets use BRAVIA Engine 3.

BRAVIA Link - This is Sony's proprietary interface port where people can attach specific BRAVIA accessories to enhance the capabilities of the television such as the Sony Internet Link Module, or Sony Wireless Module. Again, this BRAVIA link was limited to the mid and high-end range Sony lines in 2008, but is now available on the entry level 2009 line. The 2009 high-end sets retain the BRAVIA Link, but also have the specific Internet Module integrated into the television itself.

24p True Cinema - This is Sony's marketing name for technology that lets the TV accept 24Hz signals, which is the native framerate of film movies. You also need the source video to be sent at 24 frames per second which is a feature of most modern Blu-Ray players. It is unknown if this line of TVs does a conversion of the 24FPS content to the more standard 30Hz, or retains the content's original framerate.

The HP 2310m is a mid-range 23" high definition LCD monitor and is very similar to the 21.5" HP 2210m. The only things really setting the 2310m apart from the 2210m other than screen size are the 2310m's wider 60,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and 3ms gray-to-gray response time. Otherwise, the 2310m shares the same 1920 x 1080 native resolution and input selection (VGA, DVI-D (with HDCP) and HDMI).

The 2310m's 60,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio allows for brighter whites and darker blacks for a richer HD experience while its 1920 x 1080 resolution allows for full 1080p HD video support. Its 3ms gray-to-gray response time reduces blurring and ghosting in fast action scenes, making it suitable for gaming. The Aquos LC-60LE832U is a high-definition LCD HDTV from Sharp's LE832 Series. The TV is the largest model in the series with a 60" edge-lit LED panel that includes X-Gen technology to produce high contrast. The DP55441 is a 55" LCD HDTV from Sanyo that was released in the first quarter of 2011 along with other LCD models such as the similar DP46841 and DP42841. One feature that this has over the previous mentioned is a light sensor that will detect room lighting conditions and adjust screen brightness automatically, although this can be turned off as well. Otherwise it comes with the same selection of inputs and outputs which are outlined below in the features section including 3 HDMI inputs, 2 HD component inputs, USB input for viewing pictures directly from a flash drive and digital audio output for connecting to a home theater surround system. This may also be used as a monitor for your PC or laptop by connecting to the standard VGA input. The Aquos LC-46LE832U is a high-definition LCD HDTV from Sharp's LE832 Series. This model is an update to the DP46840 which came out a year prior with nominal changes and a slimmer and lighter build. These tv's feature a high gloss black finish and table stand, or if you prefer they can be mounted on a wall with the appropriate mounting kit. Samsung 6 Series (2008)

The Samsung 650 series, also known as the 6 Series or Series 6, is one of the high-end offerings part of Samsung's 2008 LCD line up. It is positioned above the 550 series and below the top-of-the-line 750 series. The 650 series has similar features and specifications to the 750 series, as the most significant upgrade is the ability to stream some video formats from your computer and subwoofer found on the 750. Upgrading from the 550 series, the 650 series adds an Ethernet port for downloading Internet content, and a 120Hz mode for smooth display performance of video containing fast motion. The 6 series is considered the successor to the Samsung 71F series, released in 2007, that features a similar glossy panel, and 120Hz mode.

Noticed that there is a con saying you can't do picture in picture with 2 digital pictures, you can. You can view your typical digital HD signal from cable, satelite or other device using your HDMI connection and you can view the HD feed from your antennae also at the same time, so you can have 2 hd pictures at once, the antennae HD picture will be the secondary picture while the main picture will be your satelite or cable box.

750 and 650 features

4 HDMI ports - the lower level series feature 3 HDMI ports, with the high-end models adding an extra HDMI port for more expandability. All HDMI ports are version 1.3.

Anti-glare screen - first introduced in the Samsung's 71F series of television released in 2007, Samsung claims they have improved the glossy anti-glare screen to reduce glare and reduce reflections.

3D support - the televisions can accept and properly display 3D content. If you have the proper glasses and source conent the TV will handle 3D images.

Upgrades over 71F series

Upgrades have been made to the internal circuitry to reduce power consumption and improve image quality. The new backlight system runs at twice the frequency which reduces the amount of flicker perceived. Samsung has also reworked the Auto-Motion Plus (AMP) feature to reduce what is known as the Triple-Ball-Effect (TBE) where fast moving items in an image will appear three times. AMP settings have also been made more flexible as they can be adjusted independent of the 'display mode' chosen.

Z-Series and W-Series features

120Hz - to handle fast motion found in action movies, video games and sports the television's refresh rate is doubled from the usual 60Hz to 120Hz. This results in smoother motion and reduces the image artifacting known as judder.

24p True Cinema - movie's are filmed at 24 frames per second, traditional televisions display their images at 60Hz meaning the movie information needs to be converted. With the 120Hz mode, which is a direct multiple of 24, no conversion is necessary meaning you get the source exactly as it was filmed. 24p content comes primarily from Blu-Ray video.

Z-Series, W-Series, and V-Series features

60p and 24p support - these sets can accept Blu-Ray content that is delivered at 24 frames per second with a progressive picture. They also accept a progressive signal that is delivered at 60 frames per second, this is most common in video games. Both the HDMI and Component video inputs can handle these signals.

Bravia Sync - control the other components in your home theater system, such as your A/V receiver and DVD player, directly from the TV. The other components must be Bravia sync compatible.

USB port - view pictures and audio stored on a USB mass storage device.

The Regza 42HL67 is part of Toshiba's 2007 lineup of LCD high-def televisions, and falls on the entry-level side of their offerings, and in the middle road of LCDs in general. The set features a 720p native resolution as opposed to the higher 1080p, but at 42" the difference in resolution shouldn't be a factor in viewing distances over 7 feet. As part of the Regza line the HL67 uses much of the same technology as the more expensive panels including 14-bit processing, dynamic backlight, and aesthetically features the same thin bezel design.

The DynaLight technology is responsible for the difference in the dynamic and static contrast ratio numbers. Dynamic contrast ratio is the measurement from the absolute darkest black possible, to the absolute whitest white that may be on different frames, whereas the static ratio is the measurement between the darkest black and brightest white on the same frame. The DynaLight technology analyzes each frame and depending on the overall darkness or brightness of the picture will adjust the television's backlight accrodingly. Therefore during dark scenes the overall picture will be darker, while bright scenes will be brighter. The backlight adjustment happens every frame to minimize any artifacts that may arise, the feature can also be shut off.

The Philips 55PFL5706 is an upper mid-cost LCD TV. This TV has SRS TruSurround HD sound, which offers clear dialogue and bass, and cuts down on volume level spikes. The display of the 55PFL5706 is fifty-five inches of full HD (1080p). The Pixel Precise HD image processing engine offers a picture that is immersive. The 120HZ refresh of this LCD TV cuts down on jitter and blur. The 55PFL5706 connects to the internet wirelessly, and the MediaConnect online platform allows you to navigate anywhere (an alternative to the often app or widget-limited platforms of other TVs). The 55PFL5706 also features NetTV, which allows you to stream content from websites such as Netflix, Pandora and VUDU.
