DIY Car Tint Kit by SnapTint

The Do It Yourself Car Tint Kit by SnapTint lets you install your own tinted windows without having to pay for a mechanic. The instructional video describes the process as "three easy steps" though when watching the video it's more like 10. Included with the kit are some of the tools necessary to apply the tinting film to your car's windows. These are:

Details

  • Gasket jammer - used to jam the tint film into the weather gasket area
  • Olfa knife (exacto knife) - if any trimming is needed for a better fit
  • Lil' Chizler - for removing creases
  • 4" card (similar to a credit card) - for removing excess water beneath film, though it seems like the Lil' Chizler could perform a similar function.
  • Window tinting film

The film comes in precut arrangements for a particular model of car, so cutting customizations should be kept to a minimum. Alongside the included tools you'll need some household tools of your own to apply the tints. These include

  • spray bottle
  • baby shampoo
  • lint-free cloth
  • distilled water

This looks like a simple system but it is NOT. I am quite a handy guy and I ended up having to just rip the stuff off and throw it away. There is a reason people make a living putting tint on car windows. I normally like DIY but SnapTint simply doesn't work.

The company itself does not stand behind its products. They cannot be reached by phone (their phone system has been "down" for over 2 years now) and will not give any refunds.

Just remember, do you really trust a company that you can't talk to and won't give any money back? I should have listened to the red flags! instead I just ate $120.
