December 22, 2009 at 8:12 am

"Perhaps the FAQ and help sections could be expanded, to give more detail? I voted green/thumbs up for a 'con' on an item. I assumed that it meant that I agreed with that particular 'con'. I expected the 'con' count for that detail to go up by one, instead it went down by one. I am confused, and I've searched the site for an explanation (FAQ, forum, IRC, community portal), and even googled outside the site. I still don't understand it.

Could you explain exactly how the +ve and -ve 'pro' and 'con' thumb system works, please? Thanks. alldatstrakATgooglemailDOTcom"

It is what some cyclists call a BSO (Bike Shaped Object). I'm sure it's very portable, but when they were designing the riding qualities, all the cyclists were sent out of the room."

2. commented on Issey Miyake TO Watch - December 22, 2009 at 7:38 am

"Expensive for a novelty design, yet not as unique as many people think - the use of stainless steel is the most interesting part of the design, not the 'mystery hands'. They have been made for years, see many variations in this gallery:

This watch is similar to the Issey Miyake/Seiko To watch, but there are others also similar. Not only that, but Miyake didn't originate the design anyway. All these watches are just remixes of the old 'jump hour' watches that were popular in the 60s and 70s. Miyake and Starck just opened up the 'letter box' slot for viewing the figures, and removed the figures. There are dozens of similar designs, starting from the 1950s. See this gallery:

A decent watch for the price, but I don't understand how anyone can say that making your logo into the minute hand is 'subtle'."
