The HiBore Monster XLS is a moderately priced driver which features a 16% larger face when compared to Cleveland’s original XLS, but still remains within the USGA limits. The deeper, yet wider face is designed to provide a large degree of forgiveness and stability thanks to its large hitting area. This driver also features 24 grams of added weight allowing the club’s MOI (moment of inertia) to approach the USGA limit of 5900. The end result equals improved ball speed and accuracy when driven from the entire surface of the club’s face. The Cleveland HiBore Monster XLS is available in standard, draw and tour models for both left and right-handed players. Available lofts include 8.5°, 9.5°, 10.5° and 11.5°. Available graphite shafts include Fujikura Flightspeed Fit-On gold or red.

TaylorMade Burner Driver

The TaylorMade Burner is a performance driver that is a cross between TaylorMade's 2007 Burner and 2008 Tour Burner drivers. The driver features the same SuperFast technology of the 2007 model with a lightweight shaft that provides explosive swing speed and faster ball speed. It combines this technology with the Dual Crown technology of TaylorMade's Tour Burner which gives it high launch with low to mid spin for more distance. Cleveland Launcher

The Cleveland Launcher is the successor to the original driver with the same name. 2009’s model has a 21% larger face than the original, allowing for greater compensation when used by golfers who tend to miss-hit and require a forgiving club. Forgiveness is achieved due to the club’s weighting pad on the bottom of the 460cc-sized head by keeping weight as low as possible. The Launcher’s crown (top section of the club) is also 23% thinner, sizing up at only half a millimeter in thickness. The Launcher also features low spin and mid-trajectory, resulting in high MOI (moment of inertia). Cleveland Launcher SL290

The Cleveland Launcher SL290 is a driver built to be as light as possible while still qualifying for the PGA Tour. This is a bit heavier and shorter than the Cleveland Launcher XL270, but comes in a half-inch in length and weighs less than the Cleveland Launcher TL310. The three clubs all use the same technology, in this case resulting in a 290 gram total weight. In part this is due to the Launcher Ultralite Technology which removes parts of the head without reducing flexibility, but also the reduced weight is a result of the shaft design. A Miyazaki C Kua 43 series shaft is used which is very light, but maintains an International Flex Code of 6754 to provide strong performance usually found in heavier shafts.

Nike VR STR8-FIT Tour Driver

The Nike VR STR8-FIT Tour Driver is a graphite driver that features Nike Compression Channel Technology, which increases the overall compression of the body, thereby producing increased ball speeds across the entire face. This essentially allows for the power of a 460cc head with “incredible shot-shaping capability.” Included also are 32 separate face angle options that make it easier for the player to subtly perfect their shot shape. It also hosts an Aldila VooDoo Shaft specially designed with a one-piece carbon system that keeps the shaft more concentric during the swing, meaning that it won't deform to an oval shape and waste energy.

The Srixon Z-TX Driver is a high performance driver designed for professional golfers seeking to enhance their distance while ensuring higher accuracy. The Cobra S3 Max Driver is a mid-range to high-end golf driver similar to the Cobra S3 Driver. The S3 Max is aimed at a less advanced crowd than the S3 and as such it lacks the S3's Adjustable Flight Technology. TaylorMade R11 TP Driver

The TaylorMade R11 TP Driver is a high-end driver designed to provide a high degree of shot adjustment, very similar to the TaylorMade R11 Driver. The only difference between the R11 TP (Tour Preferred) and the standard R11 is that the R11 TP has a premium Fujikura Blur TP 65 shaft as opposed to the R11's Fujikura Blur 60. Otherwise, the two are identical as both sport Adjustable Sole Plate technology, Flight Control technology and Movable Weight technology.

The TaylorMade Burner SuperFast 2.0 the second generation SuperFast drivers expected to be released on February 4, 2011. The driver is available in a standard model as well as a TP Version.

The driver is incredibly light, weighing only 279 grams, which is impressive considering the size of the driver. It has a 46.5" shaft, a large clubface and inverted ConeFace technology which actually increases the size of the sweetspot - an advantage welcomed by novice to veteran players alike. The clubhead's DualCrown technology is designed to lower the clubhead's center of gravity, while the clubface has been designed to reduce overall drag. The TaylorMade Burner SuperFast 2.0 TP is an incredibly lightweight driver, weighing only 279 grams, that builds upon the strengths of the much popular SuperFast line of drivers from TaylorMade. Callaway FT-iZ Driver

The Callaway FT-iZ Driver is a golf club driver featuring a graphite Aldila VooDoo shaft available in Light, Regular, and Stuff variations. It features ‘barbell-like’ weight distribution with 58% percent of the mass in the clubface and 16% in the rear, thereby producing a high MOI and a low CG for increased speed (linear accelebration). In addition, 12% of the face area has ball speeds within 2mph of max speed because of a chemically milled hyperbolic face that optimizes face thickness by selectively removing unwanted material for precision thickness control. Plus the FT-iZ hosts an aerodynamically designed body that provides reduction of drag in the downstring for higher impact speeds. Testers at Golf.com hail the club as “one of the best at minimizing distance loss on miss-hits.” But they did note that shots feel like they hit well regardless of impact location.

TaylorMade R9 460 Driver

The TaylorMade R9 460 Driver is a 460cc, adjustable driver released in June of 2009 as a step up from the R9 (430cc). It features TaylorMade Flight Control Technology (FCT) for changing the face angle, loft, and lie to promote approximately 40 yards of side-to-side trajectory change. And in regards to the R9, the R 460 in fact launches—on average—1 degree higher with 300/400 rpm less spin. This is due to its deeper-back CG position, which makes it easier to launch the ball both high and long. Included also in this model is Inverted Cone Technology, which combines super-high MOI and an easy-launching CG position to max out on off-center hits. Note that the head is neutral-biased and does NOT have the Moveable Weight Technology (MWT) system.

The Tour Edge Bazooka JMAX Gold Driver is a driver designed for the best possible forgiveness. The offset hosel allows for an extra fraction of a second to square and close the club face to avoid slicing. Nike SQ Dymo

The Nike SQ Dymo is a high-end set of drivers designed to put an emphasis on optimized ball flight and maximum travel distance. Through the use of Nike PowerBow technology the weight within each driver is distributed so that each club has a correctly established center of gravity. This allows each loft to adjust what it needs to be; "forward and higher in low lofts for penetrating trajectory with less spin, or deep and low in higher lofts for increased spin rates which makes it easier to get the ball airborne." The Nike SQ Dymo shaft is designed out of lightweight AXIV core material that weighs between 45 and 55 grams. Each club in the set is available in X, S, R, A or W models; and each can have a custom shaft made from Aldila, Fujiku RA, Grafalloy, Graphite, Mitsubishi Rayon, or UST materials.

The Adams Speedline F11 Driver is a driver built to enable the fastest swing possible. The Nike SQ MACHSPEED Black Square is a golf driver built for extreme forgiveness and an aerodynamic design finished in black throughout the shaft and head. Cleveland HiBore XLS

The HiBore XLS is a moderately priced driver which features a 17% larger face when compared to its predecessor, Cleveland’s HiBore XL. Until 2009’s HiBore Monster XLS was released, 2008’s HiBore XLS was Cleveland’s largest-faced club which still remained within the USGA’s maximum club head dimensions. The Tour Edge Exotics XCG-4 Driver is a club designed for workability and feel with a tour-style low launch, and is aimed at experienced players. The head uses a think crown and cup face to lower the center of gravity, providing a better feel and lower spin. The 5-1-1-1 titanium material used in the clubhead provides a harder and stronger surface than 6-4 Ti, enabling thinner walls and better rebound. Srixon Z-Star Driver

The Srixon Z-Star Driver is a driver released in 2011 featuring a new STAR Fitting System, which was designed to allow golfers to independently adjust the face angle and also the internal weighting of the clubhead. There are in fact 84 possible configurations per loft, allowing for a very custom club fitting. By being able to do this, golfers can therefore achieve more accurate shots. Quite the opposite of a traditional driver, the Z Star Driver offers many revolutionary new technologies, much like the above, such as Quick Tune so golfers need not turn the wrench 20 times to hear a click, included additional weights for easily switching weights, and even a hidden slot for conveniently storing the weights. There’s also a variable face design in which the face has been enlarged, thereby to increase the COR area by 5 percent, meaning the driver can achieve greater distance and forgiveness.

The Adams Speedline 4G Ultra-Lite is a driver designed to be as light as possible. The use of "Ultra-Lightweight" materials results in a total weight of 282 grams, including the weight of the shaft. This, and an aerodynamic design, increases the speed of the swing and results in more distance. The club head is designed to be very forgiving for off-center shots and create a fast ball speed with a responsive face. Spin off the face is set to be in the mid-range, with a mid-high loft available at 10 and 12 degree settings. The club uses a matte carbon finish that doesn't readily reflect light, and a series of blue and grey lines detail the edge to help mask scuff marks.

The Cleveland Launcher TL310 is a driver built for light weight without compromising power. This is the heaviest in the series and also the shortest, and is paired with the Cleveland Launcher SL290 and Cleveland Launcher XL270 in the Right Weight Fitting System that uses the same technology throughout and strikes a balance for the build of each player. Launcher Ultralite Technology is used to reduce weight in the head without sacrificing flexibility and power. The shaft is a Miyazaki C Kua 43 series that is built with lightweight materials and an International Flex Code of 6754. A comfortable Lamkin grip at the end helps keep a good grip and weighs 46 grams, bringing the weight of the club to the extreme ends and leaving the middle relatively light.

The Cleveland Launcher XL270 is a driver built to provide good distance in as light a build as possible. This is the longest and lightest in the series, and works with the Right Weight Fitting System to provide consistent performance for players of different heights along with the Cleveland Launcher SL290 and Cleveland Launcher TL310. A 26 gram Winn grip and 192 gram head keep the weight distribution of the club at the extreme ends for increased stability and control. The Miyazaki C Kua 43 series shaft is built according to International Flex Code 6754 for a stiff feel that provides strong precision while still maintaining a light weight. The Swingweight rating of this club is D6.

The Tour Edge Exotics XCG-V is a high-end driver in Tour Edge's V series. Tour Edge promotes the fact that the titanium cup face, ultra light magnesium crown and v-shaped steel sole are combo-brazed (as opposed to welded) together. This design distributes 49% of the club's weight below the ball and in the rear corners, which contributes to the distance of a drive. The Wilson Staff Spine Driver is a driver with a high moment of inertia (MOI) that gives long and accurate results. The Adams Speedline is a driver offered by Adams Golf designed to give maximum ball speed and maximum distance. The Speedline is the first driver to to engineered using a wind tunnel for an aerodynamic shape. The results in 50% less wind drag than typical tall face, sloping drivers, and a 3-4 mph higher swing speed, in turn giving 3-9 yards more distance on drives. The three main features to reduce wind drag are improved crown shaping, optimized face area and heel/toe scoops. A high performance Grafalloy Prolaunch AXIS Blue shaft and Lamkin Crossline Tour grip mutes vibrations and gives a soft feel. The PowerBilt AirForce One N7 Driver is a specialized, tour grade driver designed to add between 10 to 20 yards to any player’s drive, regardless of his or her swing speed. The Titleist 909D3 is a high-performance driver that gives a mid launch with low spin, and is the smallest model available of three 909 drivers offered by Titleist. The driver head has a classic pear profile with a 440cc head volume made of titanium, and has a low and deep CG (Center of Gravity) for reduced spin, higher MOI (Moment of Intertia) which produces longer straighter drives. Nike SasQuatch SUMO

Nike has revolutionize the geometry of the golf driver by creating a square club head in its SasQuatch SUMO. This is not for aesthetics, but rather to increase the clubs moment of inertia (MOI) to an industry leading 5300 g cm². Basically, a higher MOI (resistance to change in rotation) in a club allows you to be more accurate by being more forgiving in your swing.

On top of this radical MOI, the SUMO also boasts a 460 cc club head volume that maxes out the USGA's restriction. The USGA also has a limit of 5900 g cm² for a club's MOI, making the SUMO an extreme driver choice.

Also known as the XQ Muto 460 Ti, SUMO stands for Super Moment of Inertia Squared in reference to its huge MOI. This club has a composite crown instead of the traditional titanium to save weight.

The SUMO promises distances, forgiveness, and accuracy for around $400, and is available with several loft choices, and swing weights. There is also a women's model available.

Callaway FT-i Driver

The result of over 10 years of research, the FT-i driver from Callaway is being marketed as their most innovative club yet. Advancements come in the form of two areas, namely the mixed material composition of the driver head, and the geometry of the driver to attain a specific weight distribution.

Callaway's number one goal for the FT-i during the design of the FT-i is what they call the Complete Inertial Design. The goal being to maximize the moment of inertia for the driver head so the ball flies straighter minimizing slices and hooks. Callaway designed the club to have the weight distributed around the edges of the head and away from the center of gravity. Callaway claims that this distributed weight approach expands the club's sweet spot so even if you hit the ball on the edge or corner of the face, you'll still have a straight shot.

A classic Titanium material was tested, but Callaway claims that an all-Titanium head would not distribute the weight properly giving a maximized impact surface. Using their previously successful Fusion Technology, which is the mixture of more than one material, Callaway claims they were able to successfully obtain the proper weight distribution.

The Adams Speedline Fast 10 is a mid-priced driver. Like the Speedline 9032LS, another driver offering from Adams, the Fast 10 was designed using aerodynamic technology (tested in wind-tunnels). Compared to Adams' earlier driver offerings, the Speedline Fast 10 has 100% increased toe curvature and 300% reduction of heel curvature, which work together to create stability of airflow in the club's head. This design reduces drag by 10%, and increases distance by the same amount. Mizuno MP-600 Driver

The MP-600 is one of two drivers in Mizuno's current lineup. While the MX-700 is targeted more towards game improvement, the MP-600 is aimed at more advanced players. The 460cc titanium construction incorporates a 'CORTECH' clubface of varying thickness, designed to enable maximum speed across the entire surface. The key feature, however, is 'Fast Track Technology', a system of two eight-gram weights which can be moved along a track behind the clubface. The Callaway Hyper X is a mid-range golf driver designed for intermediate and expert players. An affordable downgrade from the Callaway FT-9 and Callaway FT-iQ, the Callaway Hyper X only maintains its peers’ Hyperbolic Face Technology. In all other ways, however, the Hyper X is an entirely different unit. For one, the Hyper X features an optimized head shape with strategic internal weighting and a 460cc size that creates a high MOI (moment of inertia) for “increased forgiveness” and stability on miss-hits. The TaylorMade R9 Superdeep TP is a TaylorMade R9 driver released in early 2010. It inherits the R9 SuperTri’s black with red & white trim design, but is intended moreso for intermediate to professional-level players. It uses a smaller face than the R9 SuperTri to produce less spin, which means a player can drive further with more loft. That means greater distance, but less forgiveness. In particular, critics say the Superdeep TP lacks the high moment of inertia of its predecessor, but that it was designed this way on purpose. Featured is a 435cc head, two adjustable weight ports, and Flight Control Technology, which is TaylorMade’s adjustable head-design technology for unscrewing the head and then re-attaching it into an alternative position to enhance draw, fade, or neutral bias.

The Ping Rapture V2 is a high-end golf driver designed to optimize a user's golf game through the method of enhancing ball speed, spin rate, and launch angle during a stroke. The Rapture V2 driver is composed of a titanium body material with tungsten skirt weights which allows a maximum forgiveness in each swing of the club. The Mizuno MX-700 is a high-end driver that is designed as Mizuno claims to be the "most forgiving golf driver ever." The club mallet is forged from a "hot metal" TI-9 titanium face; which is plasma melded to a 6-4 titanium material body. The plasma melding allows the entire club to be completely seamless; without bends and joints that tend to interrupt the flow of a golf swing. The body features a unique grain structure design which expands the Coefficient of Restitution (COR)* area which in turn increases both ball speed and distance; even as Mizuno claims on center-strikes. The Mizuno MX-700 also includes a "geometrically driven head shape" which allows for a low and deep Center of Gravity (COG); which ultimately results in better vertical stability, low ball spin, and high ball flight for increased distance and "long, straight drives".

The R9 SUPERTRI is a mid-priced driver from TaylorMade. The R9 SUPERTRI marks the first time that FCT (Flight Control Technology) and MWT (Moveable Weight Technology) have co-existed on the same club. FCT is a feature that allows you to change the face angle, and MWT allows you to change the CG (Center of Gravity). The Ping i15 Driver Ping is a tour golf club driver featuring a TFC 700D shaft with Regular, Stiff, and X-Stiff flex options. It utilizes a fade-based design aimed at players who put greater priority on shaping shops. The traditional pear-shaped 460cc titanium head is engineered with a bulge crown design and a deeper face to optimize energy transfer, resulting in greater speed and a solid feel. Plus the i15’s internal weighting system reduces spin for a longer distance. And the hosel is positioned slightly back from the face to help promote tour-preferred trajectory and control. Testers at Golf.com hail the i15 for its rock-like stability and muted sound and feel. They do note, however, that the driver isn’t ideal for players with moderate swing speeds.

The Tour Edge Bazooka HT MAX Driver is a graphite golf club driver featuring advanced heel-toe (HT) weighting via two internal weight cavities in the heel and two in the toe. This results in a lower center of gravity (COG) with a high moment of inertia (MOI), which translates to longer and more accurate shots. And as an upgrade from previous Bazooka models, the HT MAX Driver utilizes a 15% larger face size for a larger and more effective hitting area. Furthermore, the forgiveness has been maximized by eliminating the skirt, sloping the crown, and placing a fixed weight screw in the rear of the sole. Critics at Golf.com say the MAX is lightweight and comfortable for the ‘everyman,’ but doesn’t really boast any distinguishing factors.

The Titleist 909D2 is a high-performance driver that gives a mid launch with low to mid spin, and is the mid model available of three 909 drivers offered by Titleist. The driver head has a full pear profile with a 460cc head volume made of titanium, and has a low and deep CG (Center of Gravity) for reduced spin, higher MOI (Moment of Intertia) which produces longer straighter drives. This design along with a tuned sole, optimized pockets and an internal rib for reduced vibration, give a tour validated feel and sound. The integrated titanium blind bore hosel design saves weight, provides solid feel, and allows for more shaft options. The factory installed SureFit Swingweight Screw helps position the CG deep in the head, while providing a precise match to the shaft.

The Titleist 909D2 comes with a Titleist Diamana Blue 65 or Titleist Aldila VooDoo stock shaft and a Titleist Tour Velvet Rubber stock grip, which can also be customized. Lofts available are 8.5°, 9.5° and 10.5° with a 11.5° model available in RH only.

The Tour Edge Bazooka QLS is a mid-priced driver. This 6A4V titanium club has a slightly offset hosel, which allows the face to hit the ball squarely off the tee, thus promoting straight shots. The oval design distributes weight to the corners of the club, which makes this a very forgiving driver. There is also weight placed in the sole of the Bazooka QLS, a design that makes for long, high, accurate shots. The sloped crown lowers the center of gravity, which also helps to make shots accurate. The high moment of inertia of the Bazooka QLS minimizes twisting, another key to accuracy. There are several shaft and model options available, as well as women's models (which have a club length of 44" instead of the men's 45").

Tour Edge's Exotics XLD-LS is a high-end driver. Tour Edge is promoting the 6A4V titanium XLD-LS as having an abundance of club speed and distance. The pentagon head shape, which provides a controlled launch and club speed, is a major factor in this promotion of powerful drives. The sloped crown moves the center of gravity deep into the head, which increases trajectory. The sloped crown also raises the moment of inertia, making off-center hits more stable. Across the face, the thickness varies from 2.8mm to 3.3mm, which ups the rebound rate of the entire face. In other words, the XLD-LS has a large sweet spot on its face, which will help with the distance of all drives. The TaylorMade r7 CGB MAX Limited is a unique driver set that incorporates 9 drivers in 1. The Tour Edge GeoMax 2 is a high-end driver. Tour Edge is promoting this driver as having an especially high Moment Of Inertia, which increases stability and helps cut down on off-kilter shots. The sloped crown moves the center of gravity lower and farther away from the face, which helps to reduce spin and increase launch angle. The face of the GeoMax 2 is 20% bigger than previous models, which makes the sweet spot bigger. This helps with distance and accuracy. For the same price Tour Edge also offers the GeoMax 2 Draw driver, which is geared toward cutting down the slice and features a more forward offset hosel design than the GeoMax 2, as well as weight cavities that are shifted towards the heel (all four of them).

The FT-5 Driver is the latest evolution in clubead design and innovative technology from Callaway. Ping G10

The Ping G10 is a high-end driver designed to provide an increased launch height, lower ball spin and a higher moment of inertia. The G10 has also been designed with a deeper club face which gives users a larger hitting area; the increased mass also increases ball speed on a miss hit. The G10 shaft has been updated when compared to its predecessors, it is known as the TFC 129 and specifically features weight distribution that progressively gets lighter down the body to increase torque which ranges from R, to S and X flex. The G10 driver itself is outlined in a stylish glossy black finish which helps give it a much smaller appearance when compared to other 460cc drivers on the market.

The Ping G10 comes with a default shaft size of 45.75" which is considerably larger than most average drivers on the market; those interested in purchasing a G10 would be best suited to undergo fitting measurements to ensure a correct size fit. Several reviews have stated that the Ping G10 offers a minor change in features from the average driver on the market but offers a large improvement including solid performance, increased ball speeds and increased forgiveness.
