Toshiba's ridiculous virtual reality helmet

What the hell are they thinking? And why would she need a monitor in front of her?

This shot is of Toshiba's experimental dome-shaped viewing screen. The helmet allows the viewer to have a full 360 view on the 40 cm dome. Besides looking absolutely ridiculous, how practical is this? In the age of nano, this thing is huge!
