Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

The love story of Joel and Clementine played by Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet is the Casablanca of the 21st century. The couple has a history, but can't remember each other. What's happened that has made them so close and drawn to each other? The truth is, they did know each other, very well, in fact they lived together, however Clementine has had her memory erased so that she can forget Joel and all of her feelings for him. When Joel learns of Clementine's position, he too goes to have his memory erased of her. But, halfway through the procedure he changes his mind and clings desperately to the happy memories they shared together. As the viewer watches their romance unfold, the story is helped along by a few eccentric and likable characters including Kirsten Dunst, Elijah Wood, Mark Ruffalo and Tom Wilkinson.
