The Everex CloudBook UMPC was announced on January 8th, 2008 at CES in Las Vegas as a direct competitor to the popular Asus EEE PC. Like its competitor it features a 7" screen, an open-source distribution of Linux (gOS Rocket), a low-power CPU, 512 MB of RAM, comes pre-loaded with open-source and free software tools, and has as suggested retail price of $399. It features a 1.2 GHz VIA C-7 CPU, 512 MB of RAM. According to the manufacturer the CloudBook has 5 hours of battery life, which is an improvement over the Asus EEE.

Availability and Pricing
The Everex CloudBook will be available from Walmart.com beginning January 25th, 2008 retailing for $399. The CloudBook is actually the same hardware as the Packard Bell Easynote XS2 product released in Europe.
