The success of the Asus EEE PC has inevitably led to a direct-clone in the CloudBook. Asus has announced they will be following up with a new model with a 9" touch-screen.

One downside about competition entering this space too early is that the enthusiast community can get divided. The CloudBook is definitely a solid offering and a very worth competitor to the Eee. So now if you split the hacker base between the two computers, if they're not compatible, then that will divide the community's resources. As with all things community based, if you don't have a critical mass of people the new innovative stuff won't get down.

It's possible that the Eee has already hit that critical mass, I think it has, but maybe not... and maybe dividing the community between these two computers (and more to come?) will prevent ANY of these little Linux monsters to reach that point. Which would be quite unfortunate. That's really the only thing I'm worried about, though not a big worry.
