Wether you're into blues or not, this guitar is well worth the price. It will do everythgin a Strat should, and then some. The Texas Special pickups are a perfect mix of growl, bite and crystal clear bell tones all rolled into one. This guitar is my #1, even though I have a few other Strats, Epi 335 and an acoustic Takamine.
If you like to have a guitar that has a good fat bass sound as well, take this one throw on a set of 10-56 or 11-56 and you'll be able to achieve a closeness to what SRV had. If you like a thinner more crispy sound then keep on the set of 9s that come with it. In any case, if you like to play the blues and some rock (a la Hendrix, Cream) and you try this one out, chances are good you'll like the sound and leave with it.
Perhaps the only thing some might find hard to adjust to is the Trem arm being on the upper side of the body (again a la Hendrix), aside from that everything on this guitar is typical Fender.
