Final Fantasy XIII is the thirteenth installment in the series of role-playing games developed by Square Enix. A North American release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 is slated for Spring 2010. Previews depict a futuristic world as setting for the signature command-based battles that Final Fantasy games have long featured. Players can give multiple commands each turn, and more powerful attacks become available as the player gets stronger. The interface has changed significantly since the game was first shown at E3 2006, and it remains one of the most anticipated console game releases of this generation.

Pros
- fantastic graphics
- very slick presentation
- more interactive active-time-battle system isn't as slow and plodding as traditional turn-based systems
- futuristic setting looks great
- more diverse cast of characters
- fundamentally the same final fantasy that people know and love
- memorable music
Cons
- archaic menu-based battle system
- retains a lot of the JRPG traditions
- summon spells still take too long due to showy cutscenes
- still some hokey/cheesy characters
- formulaic and cliche'd story and design
