The Flip UltraHD 8GB is a high definition video camera built for ease of operation. The latest model has expanded the quality of video to 720p at 60 frames per second, and new image stabilization technology is used to reduce "camera shake".

This new version also uses a slimmer design profile and has a rubberized gripping area. A wide array of accessories are available, including an HDMI connection to enable playback on high definition displays. Video is recorded in MP4 file format using the H.264 HD standard, which makes the files compatible with a wide range of players. A built-in USB arm connects the device to a PC or Mac and included software helps to organize, edit and take screenshots from video. Social media integration includes quick uploads to Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
