Very proud.
Extremely proud.
He's one of the greatest players to ever live, and THE greatest of our generation. I bought my fake jersey in Egypt (Sharm el-Sheik) to be exact for $5, best $5 ever! And even though I wear the shirt a lot, I still haven't worn it since Sunday. Well last night I took the shirt for a night out on the town, with the curiosity to see if somebody would actually make a comment.
Turns out that somebody was a lot of people. Not crowds or anything like that, but I had about 10 people come up to me through the course of the night or just straight up yelling across the room. A few were supportive such as "I love Zidane!" while the others were more of the headbutting form as in "Hey Zidane, are you gonna headbutt me?" the latter of course coming from mainly Italian looking folk. Now, I can understand if you want to make a joke about it, I'm giving people a great opportunity, but at least make a good joke, these were all so lame it just made both of us look stupid.
The one thing that has stuck with me about this, is that nobody really cares about the headbutt, but it definitely has made Zidane one of the most famous people in the world. Most people around here didn't know who he was before, but now everybody does. Kudos to him! And that makes me even prouder to wear the shirt.
