Some of those titles don't deserve to be in the top 20 at all. But anyway let's see how sales will be for July. While the Wii will most like dominate again, it appears for the first time since launch that the PlayStation 3 has outsold the Xbox 360 since the price cut. Heck it even sold out at least twice on Amazon. It will also be interesting to see if the three year warranty has any affect on Xbox 360 sales. Let's also see if the PS3 can beat out the Game Boy Advance!

I can't believe Mario Party 8 and Pokemon Battle Revolution are in the top 10. Those games stink.

I think some important takeaways for this month: Everybody's weekly sales increased except for the Wii and PS3. If Wii's supply is increasing then maybe that's a sign that demand may finally actually start to be satisfied? Or maybe they're still supply constrained? RE4 is the first Wii game from a 3rd party to crack the top 10 in sales, so that's a pretty big landmark. Considering RE4 is one of the greatest games of all time and released at a budget price it remains to be seen whether this was an anomaly or shows that the Wii is viable for 3rd parties.

PS3's software sales are absolutely horrible. The Darkness which was released simultaneously on both the PS3 and 360 sold 1/3 of its 360 counterpart. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but 50K units is very poor. It's obvious to see why Sony dropped the price of the PS3. The console just wasn't selling, and the games aren't selling either. With early reports that sales have almost doubled it'll be interesting to see what happens with July's results.

360 increased in weekly sales which reverses its 3 month trend of decline. It's amazing that a game like Tenchu Z was able to outsell every single PS3 game for the month considering it's a niche franchise and it's been panned by critics. Just goes to show that 360 gamers buy a ton of games for some reason. With the increase in 360's sales I figured they wouldn't drop the price this year, but there's some news today that they've dropped it by $50 soon (which coincides with rumors for a $50 price drop on August 1st).

I heard on Gamespot that according to the Hollywood reporter there will be a $50 price drop on August 8th. I guess if that's true it must be to concide with the release of their first title in their so called perfect storm. I didn't think they would do it until after Halo 3 though....

But in other news: Sony seems to have sold 6 Million PS3's Worldwde, which gives them an install base of a little over half of the 360's and 3 Million under Wii's.

Interesting stats. Nintendo's got the top 2 consoles, and the top 4 games. I'd be interested in seeing statistic of how often gamers buy games broken down by each console over their respective lifetimes.

Because they only cost $130 and they have a ton of great games: Better than any library any console has so far, including the Xbox 360.

I never liked them. The original Xbox was ten times better than the PS2. And it had better games.

Uhh. let's see the Xbox had Halo and....... Halo 2. As well as Kotor but that was about it, the PS2 had tons of bettee games and plus most of the Xbox's goodd games were FPS only. People like variety which is why the PS2 has sold over 118 Million units while the Xbox only sold: 24 million.

Why would Microsoft need to drop the price of the 360, esspecially whith Halo coming out soon? It makes no sense! @Dialup: The Xbox has some really great games (Conker is sweet!), but PS2 has more great games, esspecially if you are an RPG fan. Xbox had like no RPG's. Also, I hear the 60 gig PS3 price droped by 100 bucks. I'm also hearing that Sony is phasing out the 60 gig PS3. So the price drop is fake! Get the cheap(er) PS3 while you can! Also, also, It makes me happy that REsident Evil 4 is in the top 10, but it should be number 1. As for third party support on the Wii, I think that third party games can sell well on the Wii if they are good games, like Red Steel and Raving Rabbids. Both of those were original third party games and they sold really well for a while.

I rented Red Steel and it is AWFUL. I bought Rayman and it was so overrated. I am renting Paper Mario right now and am really enjoying it.

I bet your looking forward to Red Steel 2 and Raving Rabbids 2. Personally I agree with Nintendo Power's score of Red Steel (it was like 7.0 out of 10). It wasen't a great game, but it wasen't horrible. Raving Rabbids was definetly overrated, but its still fun (especially as a party game. Personally I think Elebits and SSX Blur were WAY overrated Wii games. I bought both, and both lose there charm after the first hour or two. Why I bought them Ill never know. Trade In!

Yeah I think I'll take Metroid over Red Steel 2 and I have had enough party games: Mario Party 8, Rayman, Warioware! :) Rayman was ok at first but then in the later levels the minigames are the same but just harder.

Can you say Splinter Cell for the Xbox? All the PS3 versions were stripped down. And it had Xbox live and Fable. And XBMC, which means I can also get N64 games. Also the PS2's controller sucks. And you need a multitap to have more than 2 people. And not all had the ethernet port. The main reason it sold was because it was a familiar name. (PS1, PS2) and the Gamecube was, well, the Gamecube. It's controller really sucked. But it did have a few cool games.

Well I the PS2 had more third party support which equaled more exlusives which equaled more people owning a PS2 which equaled more third party support. Plus the PS2 had Singstar, Ratchet and Clank, God of War, Metal Gear Solid, Grand Theft Auto, Devil May Cry, Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy, Socom, SSX, Ace Combat, Kingdom Hearts, Gran Turismo, Sly Cooper, Jax and Daxter, Ico, Shadow of the Callosus, Champions of Norrath just to name a few. Sure Xbox had XBMC, but their only other good exclusives were Halo 1 and 2, Kotor, Fable, and PGR.

I think the main thing we can take away from this article is that people should stop buying Mario Party 8. Mario Party 8 is garbage. The whole series has outstayed its welcome. And why would you spend money on Pokemon Battle Revolution. Its only purpose is to enhance the DS games. And even then all your doing is battleing with your DS Pokemon (ooooh, 3-D) to earn clothes for your character. Buy Resident Evil 4!

I agree people should just wait for RRR 2. Maybe if we don't buy it Hudson and Nintendo will actually try to make it better. The only good games since launch have been Paper Mario and RE4.

Norath, GTA, and Devil May Cry were on the Xbox also. And the Mario Party franchise sucks. Especially 1 - 3 because you couldn't save in the middle of a game and they took forever.

DMC, and Norath were not on Xbox. DMC4 is showing up on Xbox 360, and Champions of Norath is a Sony Online Entertainment franchise so you can imagine that it'll never show up on a Microsoft console.

The previous GTA titles were given lengthly timed exclusive releases on the PS2, they didn't come out on the Xbox until a long time after the PS2 release.
