It is followed in the series by the Garmin echo 550c, which has a higher resolution screen but otherwise all of the same features. The Garmin HD-ID target tracking technology makes it easier to follow a target once you've found it, automatically adjusting settings accordingly. The dual-beam transducer switches between deep and shallow water modes, and offers a wide-angle coverage of up to 120 degrees to detect fish beyond the sides of the boat. Garmin Smooth Scaling technology keeps the sonar history on the screen as the unit changes depth ranges, ensuring that a target doesn't get lost in the process.
