Gateway DX4320-01e

$700.00 Released July, 2010

Product Shot 1 The Pros:Good manufacturer warranty - 2 years. Integrates a useful 'gadget tray' on the top of the case to hold USB accessories. Several expansion options - two free PCI/e slots and three drive bays remain free.

The Cons:Glossy case - attracts fingerprints and dust. 300 watt power supply - limits the computer's upgradability. All 4 of the memory slots are occupied - harder to upgrade to a full 8GB of RAM.

The Gateway DX4320-01e is a low-cost PC that is built for expandability. It comes with 6GB of DDR3 memory, which can be expanded to 8GB. The video card is an NVIDIA GeForce 315 that uses 512MB of dedicated video memory, which is enough for most common tasks but can easily be replaced with something higher end if users find they want to do gaming.

The processor is an AMD Phenom II X4 Quad-Core which runs at 3.0GHz, which will run most applications that don't strictly require an Intel chipset. The hard drive can store up to 1TB of data, but is set to run at variable speeds in order to save energy. High definition 5.1 channel audio is built in, but several slots are available for add-on audio cards if higher end audio support is needed. There are a total of 10 USB ports, connectors for VGA, DVI and HDMI displays, and 3 separate audio ports. A wireless keyboard and mouse are included, but there are also 2 PS/2 ports if users have wired versions that they prefer.
