The Goodmind DTA1000 is an advanced analog-to-digital receiver / DTV converter that delivers free over-the-air digital television signals to analog television or computer monitor screens. It boasts MPEG-2 Digital & Full ATSC compliance for 18 ATSC formats, including 180i, 720p, and 480p. Plus, the DTA1000 allows for selectable picture aspect ratios of either 4:3 or 16:9 (depending on the screen). Features that render this unit superior to many of its competitors include an intuitive signal-strength indicator (similar to a Wi-Fi signal bar), integrated parental controls, and perhaps most improtantly, plug-and-play connectivity for quick and simple hookups to a TV or monitor. The Goodmind DTA1000 retails for approximately $69.00 and is eligible for a government discount, per the June 2009 switch from analog to digital.
