The Grado GS1000 is a high-end headphone from Grado Labs. The first and only circum-aural headphone from Grado - a great plus for those who feel the comfort of the series is lacking - the GS-1000 also differs from the Reference and Prestige series with a vastly differrent sound signature and expanded sound stage - also thanks to the large salad bowl pads.

While not widely regarded in North America, those that go Audio-Technica often don't come back. Known for their comfort, Audio-Technica's ATH-W5000 is no...

MSRP $999.00
Released August, 2008
Pros
- closed style helps isolate the listener from their world - where external noise may ruin the listening experience
- like the D-5000 can be found much cheaper than official MSRP
- more refined than the AH-D5000 - possible candidate to challenge the best of the best?
Cons
- much more expensive than the D-5000! Almost double!
- may still be poorly put together much like the AH-D5000
- Still non-suiteble for classical and acoustic music. Despite of having more tremble and providing larger stage, than AH-D5000, it's still lack of it in comparison with Audio-Technica ATH-W5000.

Pros
- a further improvement of one of the worlds most popular high end headphone series
- largest dynamic driver - extended frequency response
- cable is detachable and easy to replace
Cons
- extremely expensive
- requires high end sources and amplification to sound its best
- Does in fact have some high-frequency resonances.
