Half Minute Hero — known as Yuusha 30 in Japan — is a real-time, fast-paced retro RPG game released for the Playstation Portable (PSP) gaming console in 2009. It utilizes brilliant cut-scenes, but ol’school 8-bit gameplay that’s similar to a hybrid of Final Fantasy and Zelda. The differentiating factor is that whereas most these games take months to beat, Half Minute Hero literally takes 30 seconds! There are exactly four modes, during which the user is given 30 seconds to save the world by, for instance, defending a mage from attacks, saving a princess, or beating a boss. Suffice it to say, Half Minute Hero is geared towards all the people who complain about not having enough time to beat their RPG game. Who doesn’t have 30 seconds to spare?
