"I wish someone besides weakknees.com would get on board with offering a DVR with a hard drive larger than 160GB. If I can go out and buy an 500 GB OEM drive for around a hundred dollars, so can every other DVR manufacturer. That they won't put a larger drive in your DVR is inexcusable and more

"I've used three generations of Netgear router. About 2 years ago, I moved into a townhouse around which there is a crazy amount of interference. About a year ago, I purchased the 834T which is the pre-N model WITH the gigabit switch. Since then my wireless link dropouts have reduced by about 90% and upload/download speeds more

"Although wireless USB is an intriguing concept, in practice it is neither entirely wireless nor particularly reliable. Recent reviews of wireless USB devices have found that their range is limited, they are highly succeptible to interference and their bandwidth is a fraction of wired USB."

"I've made about 8 changes to my system since I purchased this remote, and the 880 has accomodated every one. Presently, the only device in my system it doesn't control is the HTPC, which is a custom build. Since I purchased it, it has virtually eliminated tech support calls from my wife."

"This product is a little deceptive in that it touts itself as compatible with both Blu Ray and HD-DVD. In the sense that it will play both formats, this is true, but it doesn't offer FULL compatibility with HD-DVD, meaning no compatibility with the interactive features of that format. "Yes. Then Onkyo TX-NR1000 uses a modular card-cage architecture similar to that employed by a PC. Theoretically, this should allow nearly limitless upgrades, but as I said, I haven't seen an announcement for HDMI 1.3a and HD Surround decoding for it. Also, if you check the Denon website (http://usa.denon.com/ProductUpdatesUpgrades.asp), you can see that upgrades have been more

my TX-SR875 , display is gone, I have press the Display button no change in "Display", lol. I would just assme it has gone out but my wife may have pushed some sequence of buttons...haha. Everything works fine and I see the info on the TV screen but nothing on the unit itself.
Mu question:
is there a secret I do not know about getting it back on?
or is this a common problem

Thanks in advance
Ger

Hi,

I'm considering te Onky 905 and the one thing holding me back is that Ive read it runs really hot.

Is it hot enough to be a problem?

Wow! I didn't even know that there were upgradeable receivers. It makes sense, especially at the prices we're talking about. Either that, or they have to stop making so many new standards! ;)

Thanks for the positive feedback. I know what you mean. It's almost as though the manufacturers consider something costing less than a couple grand to be a disposable commodity. Of all the receiver manufacturers, only Denon and Onkyo have seemed committed to supporting a particular product after its initial release - and that only for the flagship models. Unfortunately, Denon will no longer support upgrades for the 48xx and 58xx series and I have yet to see an upgrade announced for the Onkyon's TX-NR1000 which they touted as the only receiver made which will not become obsolete. If Onkyo made an upgrade for the 1000 that incorporated 6 HDMI 1.3 inputs, Realta video processing and HD surround audio processing, that would be a no-brainer for me as it would have all the features I'm looking for and demonstrate their continued commitment to customer support for several generations of technology.
