The Hitachi CinemaStar 5K500 is one of the first hard drives to be based on the Hitachi low power design. The CoolSpin feature limits the energy needed during spin-up and operation, making the CinemaStar 5K500 deliver a 30% improvement in power efficiency over its immediate predecessor. It is a 3.5 inch, 500GB two-platter hard drive and is listed at being able to hold up to 250 standard definition feature-length films, 125,000 MP3 four minute songs or 250 video games. The Hitachi CinemaStar 5K500 is designed to operate in set-top boxes and digital video recorder storage devices.
