With the increased use of perpendicular storage hard drive manufacturers are able to cram an ever expanding amount of data into their components. With the 7K1000, Hitachi becomes the world's first manufacturer to release a 1 terabyte hard drive. That's a 1 with twelve zeroes. Other specifications include acoustic dampening, 32MB buffer, 7200 RPM and comes in both SATA and PATA flavours.
