Released in January 2007 at CES the Hitachi DZHS300A is a standard definition hybrid DVD/HD camcorder. The less expensive brother of the DZHS500A, the DZHS300A shoots at 640x480 and records directly onto a DVD or the unit's internal 8GB hard drive allowing for 6 hours of recording time at standard settings. Still images are restricted by the camcorder's lackluster CCD, producing a maximum image resolution of 640x480 (0.3MP). The device has an 85 minute battery life. The DZHS300A's more advanced brother the DZHS500A features a larger 30GB internal drive and more zoom (30x optical).
