The Hitachi Travelstar 5K320 is a 2.5” internal HDD designed for use in notebook PCs, set-top boxes, gaming consoles, and other mobile applications. An upgrade from the Hitachi Travelstar 5K250, the Travelstar 5K320 features a 5400RPM drive and an 8MB data buffer cache with a whopping 729Mb data transfer rate for meeting the multi-tasking needs of users seeking to balance mobile computing with digital multimedia. In addition, the Travelstar 5K320 internal HDD offers design enhancements such as altitude-sensing Thermal Fly-height Control (TFC), perpendicular magnetic recording (PMR) head technology, and an improved actuator latch. The 5K320 also includes optional Bulk Data Encryption (BDE) with a SATA 1.5GB/s interface for added hard-drive-level security. The Hitachi Travelstar 5K320 retails in either a SATA 3Gb or SATA 1.5Gb interface with 80GB, 120GB, 160GB, 250GB, and 320GB models. Prices range between $100 to $250.
