From time to time, we will promote user profiles so that they appear in the "Featured People" section on the home page. For now, profiles are chosen subjectively as new users register and contribute to ProductWiki.
What to do to get featured
Requirements:
- Register (click here to get started)
- Upload an avatar (what's an avatar?)
- Contribute in some way....
How to contribute (do any of these):
- Tap some products
- Comment on something
- Add a product
- Edit your personal profile
- Submit some useful content (image, article, review, discussion, link, etc.)
Benefits to being featured
Getting featured may not be like winning on Oscar or the World Series, but it does have its benefits. On ProductWiki (unlike Wikipedia), we encourage self-promotion. Do you have a product related website or blog? If yes, then you can promote it here.
In the settings of your profile page you can put in your website name and URL. If you are featured on our homepage, a link to your website will appear alongside your username and avatar. (If you do not put in a website in your settings then we display the date you registered)
You can also use your profile page to promote your business. The main part of your profile has a rich text section where you can talk about yourself. Formatting is encouraged and HTML is allowed.
