The ProductWiki cool products group

Be a part of the cool products group here on ProductWiki. This group is responsible for finding the coolest products available and adding them to the site so they can be showcased on the front page. It doesn't matter what kind of product, whether it's an electronics gizmo, a nice dress or shirt, a cool golf club, anything applies. The only criteria is that these are the products that stand out, because they're new, because they do something different, or they just look great. If you're passionate about a specific kind of product and know everything about them, then you're perfect to find the best in class.

There's nothing formal about being a part of the group, just start doing what you do best and share some great products and information. You can also comment on this article so people can get to know one another and ask each other for advice and tips.

There's also no set quotas or anything like that, but a good amount of output without burning yourself out or getting bored is around 3 cool new products a week. With enough people that'll be more than enough to always have innovative products to see and appreciate.

Some Tips on finding cool products or getting ideas/inspiration

Usually the best products we find are the ones that show up in our everyday lives and catch our attention. It could be on a commercial, or even a show, or something new that a coworker has brought in. Independent designers, innovative manufacturers, all are excellent for showcasing. Smaller designers are especially important because often times they need the exposure, and being shown on the front page of ProductWiki is an effective way to achieve that. Magazines are also a fantastic resource for cool new products.

Here are some companies that make or cool products such as
Style Meets People
Wishing Fish
Design Within Reach
Vat19
Think Geek

Online there are many blogs dedicated towards finding cool products, here are a few for inspiration:
Uncrate
Gadget Diva

Fun group - not so good for my wallet, but definitely fun. It's nice to introduce (and be introduced to) products that you won't always find at the local Wal-Mart.

Well cool products don't necessarily HAVE to be expensive :) Lots of times the best stuff are simple and elegent little things.

Sweet. I'm in. I agree that the best stuff comes to you offline in "real" life. Anytime I see a cool product featured on a TV show, or even in a commercial, I take a mental note. Often, I forget the name by the time I get back to the site :( A voice recorder would help.
