Knut, Berlin's cute and cuddly polar bear

The cuddly Knut (pronounced Kuh-Noot) is the center of a controversy. It's mother, a performing polar bear in an East German zoo, rejected Knut and his twin brother (who died shortly after birth). Knut was adopted by Thomas Doerflein of the Berlin Zoo, a move that other animal rights activists said was not in the bear's best interest. He should be allowed to die on his own, rather than be handreared. Does that sound right to you?

Have a look at a quick photo gallery of this mega-cute polar bear.
