Perhaps,

This according to the BBC (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/7384859.stm).

Race will be an issue.  I agree with that, but you have to take the good with the bad.

Is it racism that 90% of african americans in NC voted for Obama?  Is voting for Obama because he is black any better than not voting for him because there is an issue with his blackness?  it's more worrying to me that 90% of African Americans voted for one candidate than the 10% of whites who stated race was an issue.

The same goes for Clinton.  A while ago one of her allies said Obama wouldn't be where he is were he not black.  Maybe its true.  At the same time, I doubt Clinton would be where she is were she not a woman.  I'm sure there are plenty of women who just vote for Clinton because they believe in feminism and would like to see a female president.

I remember in the debates, Edwards lamenting such thoughts.  Of course he said it as a joke (being a regular white guy), but there is truth to what he said.
