After 6 of the original 7 wonders of the world ceased to exist, a major effort was made to find a new set of 7 wonders. The finalists were voted on by people around the world and the final 7 were announced on July 7th, 2007 (7/7/07). Here's the final list:

  Chichen Itza Yucatan, Mexico
Christ the Redeemer Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
  Great Wall of China China
  Machu Picchu Cuzco, Peru
  Petra Jordan
  Colosseum Rome, Italy
Great Pyramid of Giza Cairo, Egypt

I've seen the Colosseum and the Pyramids. The pyramids are way more impressive, but what went on in the Colosseum was outrageous. I've never heard of Petra before, but it looks amazing.

What about the "The Motherland" in Volgograd (former Stalingrad)?

I've been to Chichen Itza. I liked the original 7 wonders better, but this new batch will do just fine.

I guess this new batch gives you places you can actually visit. I'd love to see the Great Wall of China, it looks amazing...and pretty much everything else on that list so yeah, I'd say the 7 they ended up with are pretty wonder-ful (sorry, couldn't resist!).
