Community Question: What to do about carlo2007?

I don't know if you guys saw the what's happening this morning, but we got ourselves a feisty new user that's looking for love. We've had over eager people join the site before, but this is the first time they've messaged a bunch of users. The usual reaction is that one of the admins will just go and delete the offending comments, but I'm wondering what other people think should happen.

Should we just let it go?

Maybe everybody can spam HIM?

Ban him from the site?

the decision is in your hands, so choose wisely!

My feeling is that we should delete his comments. If it continues, institute a ban on his user account, then if it progresses from their, his IP address.

I don't think it's best to fight fire with fire in this case by spamming him, as it will only possibly inspire him to spam more.

Social network spam is going to become more and more of a problem as SEO/scammers/spammers/crooks start figuring it out. Any ideas of how to prevent this from happening in the future? I know I'm annoyed when I get a social network spam email.

What about you, carlo2007? What do you think? Wait, I know: "HELLO MY DEAR My name carlo Siako, i am 25 years old . I saw your profile today...."

Ok, here is my take on what to do about Carlo2007.  Lets get a group of Productwiki.com members together to track him down and once we locate him we should use the life size version of the Hillary Clinton Nutcracker on him!  That is of course if we can convince Hillary to come along for the ride.  Once we are through cracking his nuts we can wrap him in one of the Soia & Kyo Billy Coats (found on productwiki.com) and push him out of a helicopter over the Northwest Territories in Canada.  We wouldn't want him to be cold while he is visiting Canada...would we?  Of course we could take photos of this entire event with our new Nikon D300 digitial camera (also found on productwiki.com) and post them on the internet for all would-be Carlo's to see to discourage them from doing the same thing!  Just a few rambling thoughts from a productwiki.com member.

Cheers! - John Bellm

I like the way you think, John Bellm. How do you say that anyway? Bellam? Bell (silent-M)? ?

I agree with Erik's first comments....you don't want the spamming to escalate or condone that kind of behaviour.   Starting a spamming war would be a bad move.  Classic INTERNET FEUD.

Erik...think helm.  Someone in the family a couple of generations ago added an extra "L" to our name and made if really difficult for the rest of us.  Anyway, I do think that you should delete all entries from Carlo2007 to clean up the "What's Happening" page.  Especially for all of those new members joining the site...we wouldn't want them thinking that this type of behaviour is tolerated.

Oh man...that internet feud article is hilarious!  A couple of excerpts I love:

"All I did was call him a Nerd and he came to kill me."

"Before this happened, the rule was: Nobody messes with the haunted house guy"

@johnbellm: Helm. Now it makes sense. I'm one to talk. My last name isn't the easiest either :)

@dakalvia: That's one of my favourite news headlines, and definitely one of my favourite Internet feuds.

I blew away all of carlo2007 mess, btw. Adieu, crappy spam!
