January 28, 2009 at 8:49 pm

"I bought one of these new in Dec. 2003. At the time of writing (Jan 2009), I'm still using it. Its large and heavy, it has a small LCD screen, it only has a 4MP sensor and the zoom make so little difference that it might not even be there! I guess the question has to be asked - why am I still using it after 5 years?
Picture quality! If there is a picture to be had (not too distant, of course) this camera will get it, with balanced color and with as much detail as a consumer could reasonably expect or need.
Modern digital compact cameras are smaller, lighter, prettier, easier to use and have big megapixels. Do they take a better picture? I don't think so. If you come across one of these (or its bigger brother the C5050) on an auction site or in a pawn shop, buy it! You won't regret it."

No additional software needed to transfer pictures.

new pro/con: Quite heavy compared with more recent offerings

new pro/con: Quite large

new pro/con: 4AA batteries give a long period before replacement or recharge.

new pro/con: Excellent picture quality.
howiemarsh commented on Sennheiser HD 202

January 15, 2009 at 9:04 pm

"I've been using a pair of HD 202 for around 2 years in the environment of mixing live music from front of house. For this purpose I can't really recommend them. There is not enough isolation to hear clearly over the sound coming from the PA system. Turning the volume up only causes them to distort.
On the positive side, they are still in one piece! The over long cable has been tripped over at least 100 times and shows no sign of damage. They are light, comfortable and the pads show no sign of wear.
They are due to be replaced by some Beyerdynamic DT100s, which (although an aging design and not the most "hi-fi" of heaphones) were actually designed for the job that I do. The HD 202s will then be used as domestic headphones being driven by various electonic objects, including a laptop, a personal CD player and My trusty NAD reciever that I've had for 10 years. I will be able to give an objective account of the HD 202 headphones once I can actually hear them!
