The Pavilion dv5z Series is a line of mid-range 15.4" notebook computers from Hewlett Packard. The processors available range from the AMD Athlon X2 QL-60 set to the AMD Turion X2 Ultra ZM-82 set, or from about 1.9Ghz per processor to 2.2GHz per processor. RAM available ranges from 1GB to 4GB DDR2, and hard drives available range from 120GB to 320GB. The hard drive comes with HP's ProtectSmart hard drive protection, which locks the hard drive when the notebook is detected as having been dropped. Graphical options include the ATI Radeon HD 3200 integrated card and the ATI Radeon HD 3450, which features 256MB of shared video memory. The optical drive is a SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-R/RW dual-layer drive, with options for Lightscribe or Blu-Ray support available as well. There are several display options for the 15.4" display, including HP's Infinity display, which stretches the glass from edge to edge, and the WSXGA+ option, which changes the standard 1280X800 dpi resolution to 1680x1050 dpi. The Infinity option also includes the option for webcam and fingerprint reader. Wi-Fi support is included, in a/b/g/n standards, and Bluetooth support is an option as well. The battery is a 6-cell LiOn, and includes an option for the high-capacity version, which increases running time by 16%. In terms of software, the basic unit comes with the 32-bit version of Windows Vista Home Premium, with options for the 64-bit version, as well as the 32-bit version of Vista Business and the 64-bit version of Vista Ultimate. A variety of Microsoft Office, Corel, and Norton products are available as options. HP's Quickplay software is included as well, which allows for playback of media with easy 1-click access. The dv5z comes with 4 USB ports, an IR remote receiver, HDMI 1.3 support, and VGA output. The weight of the dv5z is 5.84 lbs, on average.
