The HP Personal Media Drive is a compact, portable external hard-disc drive that retails in several sizes from 160GB up to 2TB. It utilizes a USB interface to connect with PCs, after which users can use it to store and/or transfer files. More importantly, the Personal Media Drive doesn’t require an external power source, as it in fact receives energy directly from a PC. Included also is Roxio Back Up My PC7 software, which can backup and also password-protect files. Other points to consider are an included black carrying case, a 1-year warranty on the hardware, and USB 1.1 backwards-compatibility. Also, some HP computers are designed specifically with a media drive slot; the user just pushes in the unit, even if the computer is powered on. It retails from $59.99 (160GB) up to $299.99 (2TB).
