December 23, 2007 at 11:25 pm

"Just got one for my B-Day. Feels solid, grip fits well, good balance. I have B&D 12v and 18v drills and 3.6v versapak drills and drivers. All have seen loads of work. the Versa-Paks' standard NiCd batteries were lame, but the upgrade NiMH gold Versa's have lasted years and still take a good charge. The NiCds in the 12v and 18v Firestorms suck, so I had to get the upgraded NiCds to make them usable for average jobs. The build on any B&D is questionable, but a weekend DIYer who is careful can get years out of them, and they cost much less than industrial-grade competitors. The VPX line is made in China, but so are most iPods. Don't let your kid eat them. What attracted me to them was the Lithium Ion battery pack. Since the NiMH batteries make the Versa-Paks pretty good tools for light work, I figured the extra power and longer life of Lithiums could be even better. We'll see. I know the Bosch 9v Li-ion drill-driver is probably the best one out there, but it costs it."
