HTC Wildfire

$219.99 Released September, 2010

Product Shot 1 The Pros:GPS. Runs the open source Android smartphone operating system. WiFi, Bluetooth and 3G connectivity.

The Cons:Limited internal storage: 512MB for both OS and installed applications. Poor video playback performance. Essentially the Hero or Eris - simply dilutes HTC's lineup further, nothing but a new name and slightly updated software package.

The HTC Wildfire is an Android smartphone released throughout Europe and Asia in the third quarter of 2010. Cited as an upgrade from the HTC Hero, the Wildfire hosts the same 528 MHz CPU, 5MP camera and 3.2” capacitive touchscreen display, but features an improved version of the HTC Sense UI with greater social-networking integration.

Where to Buy

You can now invite friends via a social network to download an app. Plus when you make a call, your friend’s facebook data (pic, status update, birthday) will automatically pop up. In addition, the Wildfire’s Sense UI lacks the 3D effects found on the Desire, which means improved CPU responsiveness and overall performance. Added to that, the new Friend Stream functionality allows you to view all your friend data from Facebook, Twitter, and Flickr right on the same screen.

Posthaus: #htc_wildfire I think the fact it lacks the physical call and end buttons of the Hero/Eris a mark against it. May 19, 10
