The Insignia NS-BRDVD is a Profile 2.0 blu-ray player that offers HD images in 720p, 1080i and 1080p formats via HDMI, and also is capable of DVD upscaling. This is a low cost player manufactured by the Funai corporation which makes nearly half the DVD players sold in North America, and is rebranded by Magnavox for retail. Other brands selling this same basic player are Magnavox and Sylvania. It has built-in decoders for Dolby Digital Plus and DTS-HD, plus Dolby TrueHD. The player also has a Secure Digital media slot for viewing images stored on Secure media cards (SD cards). The player has 1 stereo, 1 digital optical and 1 digital coaxial audio output, plus 1 composite video, 1 component video, as well as 1 HDMI output.

Audio Considerations - the HD audio formats are output only over the HDMI 1.3 connection, and not over the digital audio out which only handle standard Dolby. There is also no included analog output of 5.1 audio.
