Iso100 commented on Vizio SV42XVT

October 25, 2008 at 8:17 am

"Our 32" (4:3) Sony Trinitron WEGA HDTV just died this week. I've been shopping around and reading reviews ever since... looking for a replacement HDTV. I wouldn't settle for anything less than 32" and 1080p.

I saw this TV at the local Costco for just under $1k. The image looks comparable to other sets in the same range. The Toshiba seemed like they REALLY cranked the contrast and sharpness which at first had me thinking it was the better set.

The menu system on the Vizio is quite nice and has a great deal of setup options for tinkerers like me. You can even set a custom white balance by inputting RGB values.

One of the biggest draws for my wife and I was the ability to add on the Jive wireless 5.1 surround system. By adding a wireless subwoofer and rear channel speakers I can now have true surround sound without wires running from the TV to our watching position. I believe the add-on is about $199."
