Few objects epitomize the interplay between traditional handcraftsmanship and modernism more gracefully than the sinuously crafted Juliana Chair, exclusive to DWR. With the Juliana, Brazilian designer Aristeu Pires has created a lightly scaled and elegant armchair built from solid Brazilian hardwood, harvested from sustainable resources and hand carved in a small factory in Brazil. The tapered back legs resolve into a slanted, crescent-shaped back apron, arced to support the body?s natural curves. The chair back, in turn, becomes two gently angled armrests that offer the right degree of slope for a relaxed posture. And the abbreviated design of the arms, which stop short of the seat pad, allows the sitter to pull the chair close to the table for dining comfort. The full-grain, semi-aniline-dyed leather seat is subtly proportioned to hold the body in an ergonomically sound position, ensuring hours of sitting pleasure. Made in Brazil
