Don't Ruin My Month

A horrible movie with no point whatsoever.

At the end of the film you're no better off than when you started.  No lessons learned, no insights given, and no feelings felt.  I could care less about the characters as they were all quite cliche and one-dimensional.  Some of the characters had the potential for interesting and deeper insight, however the movie tries to keep track of too many characters at once, so none of them are given the treatment they deserve.

I did enjoy some of the technical aspects of the filmmaking.  I appreciate patient directing to let the mood sink in and hold the emotions that are evident in the scene.  The director goes overboard sometimes holding the shot for many seconds more than necessary, even when the point is to hold the shot for longer than is usual.

I really wanted to like this movie, but I just can't understand any movie where nothing happens.  I don't care to capture a slice of life or family portrait.  There are many dysfunctional families in the world, there's nothing special about this one, so I'm not interested in the family themselves.  Having the family deal with something, and how they change in the course of the conflict, would make for a vastly better film.  In fact there's a potential conflict that arises, but it happens at the very end of the film so the potential is entirely squandered.

Boring.  Uninteresting.  No point.  Stay far away.

I saw this movie, and while I didn't think it was amazing or anything it definitely doesn't warrant this treatment. Give it a shot. Don't listen to Omar.
