The 579 X-Series is JVC's least expensive line of LCD televisions that falls in the mid-range of other manufacturers with a 1080p native resolution. JVC differentiates their televisions by using their own proprietary image processing technology on their "GENESSA" chip. The 2008 X-Series televisions succeed the 2007 versions, though the difference in specifications is minor. The most notable change over the 2007 models is a redesign of the cabinet for a slimmer profile and making the speakers bottomfiring. Sitting above the X-Series of televisions is the P-Series which add a built-in iPod docking station.

USB Port - used to dispaly photos and slideshows on compatible Universal Mass Storage (UMS) devices.
GENESSA Chip - traditional television manufacturers house different image processing functions on different chips. JVC uses their GENESSA chip which is similar to a general purpose 32-bit CPU to handle all the image processing demans. JVC claims the integrated nature of their technology allows for clearer and more vibrant images.

The naming convention of the 579 X Series takes the form of: JVC LT-__X579, where the __ are replaced by the display size.
