The Kenmore 2942 is a low-end top-load washing machine. The Kenmore 2942 washing machine can handle a 3.2 cu foot load size; which Kenmore quotes to be equivalent to a maximum of 14 bath towels per one load; the integrated Dual Action Agitator allows larger load sizes than a more traditional top-load machine and ensures all the inserted fabrics are properly cleaned equally. The body design of the device is made up of a steel frame that is adorned with a professional painted finish available only in a white color. The biggest feature of the 2942 model is the Energy Guide function; Kenmore claims this allows users to save up to 40% more energy and 28% more water when compared to a conventional top load washer. The Kenmore 2942 also includes automatic temperature control (ATC) which provides correct and consistent wash temperatures. The 2942 machine includes additional features such as a white porcelain wash basket, full rotary controls for easy setting changes, 4 separate water temperatures, 5 different standard and special wash/rinse cycles, a dispenser that can handle detergent and bleach, and special sound signals to alert users about end of cycle and load times.
