Introduced at CES 2009, the LaCie LaCinema Classic is an external hard drive with media capabilities. Featuring capacities of either 500GB or 1TB, the LaCinema Classic allows users to store data as well as play back to display their digital content over HDMI or SPDIF coaxial. Unfortunately, format support is somewhat limited - only able to decode MPEG4 (including DivX), MP3 and JPEG formats. With an attractive black enclosure and an included remote, the LaCinema Classic is available immediately from $160.

love it
Pros
- includes HDMI and SPDIF coaxial output
- attractive enclosure
- includes a remote control
- compatible with OSX and Windows
- Finally a reputable company has produced a way to store your movies. However it does need improvement. More input options and a record function and better remote. But they will get there.
Cons
- USB 2.0 only
- Overall this is a good deal from a more reputable seller-other than the china distributors thats available now. Which can be good or bad, but one thing for sure if it don't work, its a long way back to china. So this is a good deal. What they need to include is a record function from a video in-which also needs to be included.
