Leica S2

The Leica S2 is an extremely expensive professional 35 mm camera that was developed with the input of professional photographers. The system utilizes the new Leica S-Format image sensor which is 30 x 45 mm in size with a classic Leica aspect ratio of 3 to 2. 37.5 million pixels ensures that cropping is never an issue. One of the goals of the Leica S2 is that every picture is naturally sharp without the need to edit it digitally to get a great picture. Included with the camera is a large lends hood which is slotted onto the accessories mount during transport to save space. The central shutter is an optional addition to the focal lengths in the S-System. The central shutter uses springs to accumulate energy to attain shutter times of up to 1/500 of a second that is synchronized for flash. For a camera as expensive as the Leica S2, having the consumer pay extra for an optional addition is a little mercenary.
