The Lenovo IdeaPad Y550p is a powerful, Windows7-based multimedia notebook released in November 2009 alongside the U150 and U550. Whereas its peers emphasize portability and long life, the Y550p instead focuses on power. At its core is an Intel Core i7 processor with Intel Turbo Boost Technology, as well as up to 8GB of RAM and an nVidia GeForce GT240M dedicated graphics card. Included also is a 15.6” display with a 1366x768 resolution (which is in fact the defacto native resolution for many LCD and Plasma panels), as well as an option between a Super Multi DVD drive (standard) or a Blu-ray drive instead. On the audio side, the Y550p features Dolby Home Theater surround sound with integrated speakers AND a subwoofer.
