This model has been out a while and you can now pick up a refurb model which would make a great starter solid reliable laptop. Highly recomended, if it wasn't for the fact I have had to have a new jack fitted. Oh, and my spacebar is hanging off on an otherwise great to type with keyboard.

The T42 used to be the standard workstation at all of IBM's internal callcenters, I bought mine while working for them. It is still running, 5 years later. Solid, solid laptop. Batteries and accessories widely available online.
