Lenovo ThinkPad X1
$2,500.00
Released May, 2011
The Pros:Impressive system specifications for the size and slimness - Core i5 mobile processor, 8GB of RAM. Touchpad as well as TrackPoint (nub) mouse emulation. Solid ThinkPad build quality, now includes Gorilla Glass display - passes 8 MIL spec tests.
The Cons:Poor value next to slightly larger, but more powerful and longer-lasting ultra-portables such as the X220, MacBook Air. 16:9 display aspect ratio - no 16:10 1400 x 900px option like that one the X300, Macbook Air. No SSD standard.
The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 is an ultra-portable notebook. With a thickness of only 21.5mm, it is an addition to the X-Series notebooks along side the ThinkPad X220. The X1 will be one of the first notebooks to feature the RapidCharge technology; this technology allows the battery to be charged up to 80% level within 30 minutes.

As a comparison, that is over two times faster than previous batteries used in ThinkPad notebooks. Unfortunately there is a downside to this battery: it is not user removable much like Apple's MacBook Air. Any battery replacement will have to be done by Lenovo's service depot or a certified technician. Other features of the X1 includes an Intel Core i series processor, a 160Gb solid state drive, and a 13.3'' displayed covered with scratch proof Gorilla Glass.
