The LG N4B1 is a network attached storage (NAS) device aimed at home and small business users. It was announced at IFA 2008 in Berlin, a consumer electronics tradeshow. This product features a built-in Blu-ray Disc writer and supports up to four one-terabyte hard drives. Also included is a memory card reader, three USB ports, one Ethernet port and one e-SATA port for additional expansion. The N4B1 is capable of automatically archiving data to Blu-ray disc for offsite storage. This NAS is compatible with Windows, Mac and Linux operating systems due to its web-based interface, which is used for configuration and management. By default, the N4B1 is configured as a RAID 5 device, but can also utilize hard drives independently so they can be hot swapped when needed. The LG N4BI also makes it possible to share a single Blu-ray, DVD or CD by creating a disc image that can be accessed by all users on a network. Official pricing and a release date has not yet been set.
