The LG XD1 is a stylish, portable hard-disc drive introduced in Korea during 2009. It is small and compact for fitting into a purse or bag, yet also stylish with a gradient texture that comes in either red/wine or black/pearl. The XD1 is based off 2.5” drives and features eSATA I, eSATA II, and USB 2.0(1.1) interfaces for easy connectivity with a PC. At its slowest (USB), it transfers at 480Mbps, but can easily be hooked up by eSATA II—rendering speeds up to 3Gbps. Most unique about the LG XD1 is its flexible compatibility, as it works with all major Windows operating systems AND Mac OS 10 and beyond.

Pros
- eSATA and USB interfaces - one the fastest and the other the most common connection options
- compact, sleek enclosure
- good performance
- uses quality Western Digital disk drives
- available in black and red
- includes an imitation leather case for protection from scratches or smudges (with holes for using the drive without taking it out of the case)
- quieter, lighter and can be powered by the USB port (rather than a 3.5" drive which is heavier, and requires an AC adapter or the use of multiple USB ports)
Cons
- glossy finish - easily scratched, smudged
- eSATA doesn't supply power - requires the USB connection be connected either way
- not shock resistant
- made entirely out of plastic
- not as fast or capacious as a 3.5" option
