A wireless trackball from Logitech that work great. This trackball is designed for right-handed users only, good luck trying to use your left hand.
The reciever is black with a USB connection. It has a single button on it, "Connect" for those occasional occurences of lost connection.
The trackball itself is awesome to use. It's a bit bug, so if you have tiny hands, this may not be for you. You use your middle finger to guide the trackball, which feel really natural. There are 3 buttons accessible with your thumb; the usual left click, forward button and back button. The forward/back button generally work with any program that has a back/forth option. It is great for web-surfing since you never have to move the cursor to the back/forward arrows. There are also 3 buttons + scroll-wheel accessible to your index finger. The scroll wheel acts as a traditional 3rd mouse button. Above and below the scroll wheel are 2 buttons for scrolling up and down. These are great for scrolling any long document click-by-click (or you can just use the scroll-wheel). The other button is some sort of lock button which I never figured out how to use (or cared to use). Its position is a bit akward for me and I rarely use it because of that reason. The left click button is accessible to your ring finger and does its job.
The software included with the mouse should be installed as it gives you access to the extra buttons. Most importantly, the back/forward buttons will NOT work without the software installed. You can also re-program all the buttons to whatever function you desire, so you're never stuck with the default options.
All the buttons have a good solid feeling to them. They are a little on the loud "clicky" side, but no worse than any other regular mouse out on the market. Just wish they would make the clicking sound go away. The trackball is solid and will not get wrecked if you accidently drop it on the floor.
The batter life is AWESOME on this mouse. It takes 2 AA batteries that seem to last forever. I think I change the batteries every 8 months or so. The Logitech software will tell you when the batteries are getting low. Just ignore this warning until the mouse continually loses its connection. I get around another month or two of daily usage after the warning comes up.
The wireless connection never seems to fail unless the batteries are really low. The range is not a limiting factor either. I can get at least 10 feet from my comp and have it still work, although at this distance I can't even read the screen so I don't know how important this is.
There are 3 optical sensors to track the movement of the trackball. You would think that the days of cleaning your mouse would be gone, but you're wrong. The sensors gather a layer of crap on top of them and I have to clean them. The sensors always work, but the ball movement becomes jerky due to the crap buildup on the sensors.
A really annoying thing about the mouse is sometimes the tracking is off. By off, I mean that the mouse movement becomes slower than it should be. I have my mouse set on almost the highest sensitivity and every once and awhile, the mouse pointer moves like it is on the lower end of the sensitivity scale. I usually just have to turn the jiggle the mouse to get it back to normal operation. I still haven't been able to track down exactly why this happens (the sensors can be clean or have a build up of crap on them).
All the little images on the buttons have started to wear off, but no biggie.
I would recommend this product if you want a good, reliable wireless trackball.
