Manuel-The only complaint I have about the Xacti is that the 1920x1080 HD can't be ingested into an editing system right now. That may change as more codecs are implemented. But the good news is that even the "mid-rez" HD from this camera is very high quality and the stills are also extremely good. Also, it is VERY easy to download material from the card in the camera to your computer. So, if you want the smallest possible camera for the best quality stills and video, I think this is the best choice I have seen so far, especially in a digital storage format camera. Another good quality, very compact camera (but tape based and not quite as small as the Xacti) to consider is the Canon HV-20 or HV-30. Amazing quality for $600-900 cost. Tape is good because it is the cheapest and easiest storage medium. You are in HDV, which is a highly compressed format, but the Canon cameras make beautiful pictures and are very hardy. Good luck.

holy you know about this camera way more than i do please tell me more i ended op on that site because i was planning to buy the sanyo camera !!!!!!!!!!!i work with panasonic p2 and or canon xh-a1.........im leaving for colombia on chrismas day for 2 months all i bring with me is my macbookPro and a camera ..........it as to be as small as possible and the best quality as well............sanyo was the best option so far but your comments are making me rethink my decision again!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i saw a couple of movies of how to use the camera!!!!!!!!!! its seems that the files are easely dowloadeble on your laptop in small quicktime files h.264 wether its interlace or progressive scan so i thought the the import would be easy from there to final cut or i movie08!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and by the way can you upload you editing back in your camera once your done ............do you regret your buy............would you choose a different model if so wich one.............and what type of work do you actually do with that camera.. o yeah by the way my choice is the sanyo cuz im buying as well the underwater housing for the xacti 1010 Epoque because we are shooting often under harsh conditions

thank you

manuel..

when I first tested the camera at full rez i tried Final Cut Pro and it did not work. However, I have not tried it recently and they may have upgraded the available codecs. have you had success with it? Sanyo uses a non-standard implementation and their intent is to have the full rez material only play back on the camera for output through the component analog connection to their dock. They said they did not particularly care whether the digital files could be ingested directly into an editing system.
