The MP280 is an entry-level all-in-one model in Canon's PIXMA series of photo printers. It can print a 4x6 color photo in about 43 seconds at 4800x1200dpi and offers Auto Photo Fix II for automated photo enhancement without a PC, removing red-eye and adjusting exposure. The MP280's scan functionality includes Auto Document Fix, which aims to produce clearer scanned text and images via image analysis and data correction. Mid-range models operate at finer resolutions and add features like PictBridge connectivity, which enables printing directly from certain phones and cameras, and auto-duplexing for easier double-sided printing. They are also generally available with warranties longer than the MP280's 90 days.

Canon EOS 5D Mark II

Announced on September 16th 2008, the EOS 5D Mark II is Canon's successor to the EOS 5D, the world's first 'compact' full frame digital SLR. The EOS 5D Mark II boasts a new 21MP CMOS sensor, an expanded ISO range of 50-25,600 and a wealth of improvements and new features including full 1080p HD movie recording, live view, 3.0" 920k dot LCD, DIGIC IV processor, increased battery capacity and sensor dust reduction.

A January 2009 firmware update (1.0.7) fixes a problem with vertical banding noise when recording in sRAW1 as well as the "black dot" phenomenon noticed soon after the camera was released to the public.

Canon Rebel T3i

The Canon Rebel T3i (600D) is an entry-level digital SLR released in early 2011 as a successor to the T2i. Available with an optional EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II zoom lens, the Rebel T3i DSLR upgrades from its predecessor by incorporating a flip-out 3” Vari-Angle Clear View LCD display designed for taking low-angle and overhead shots. Like its predecessor, the Canon T3i DSLR is optimized to capture full high-definition 1080p video at 24fps, 25p, or 30p. Canon PIXMA iP4000

The Canon PIXMA iP4000 is a mid-range photo printer that focuses on quick printing rates and detailed photographic prints. It uses a total of five different ink cartridges, four colored and one black, and has a maximum print resolution of 4800 x 1200 dpi. Drop sizes are very small, at about 2 picoliters, and there are a total 1856 print nozzles. The iP4000 can print up to 25 pages per minute in black and white, 17 ppm in color, and can print a full 4" x 6" photo in 36 seconds. It uses Canon's Think Tank system, which indicates the levels of ink left in each individual cartridge, and allows color cartridges to be replaced separately. It has two paper paths and can thus print double-sided.

The Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM is a budget-friendly general-purpose lens labeled by critics as an upper-mid-grade unit. It features an image stabilizer for sharp images in dim lighting, a high zoom ratio, and a ring-type USM for quick but quiet autofocus. Critics say the manual focus ring is a tad too small and therefore requires familiarly if one is to quickly find and use it while shooting. Plus there is no focal length lock, so zoom-creep / gravity-zooming can be expected when carrying the lens in a downward position. The Canon EOS 7D is a high-end digital SLR camera due to be released by the end of October, 2009. This DSLR has dual DIGIC IV image processors for fast burst shooting, and is capable of 8 shots per second. With 18 megapixels, this camera’s APS-C-sized sensor has an ISO range from 100 - 6400, and a high setting of 12,800. Canon claims they have shortened the distance between the photodiodes and the sensor, which has decreased light falloff by half. This translates into better ISO performance in low light conditions. Targeted at the semi-pro market, the EOS 7D features full HD video (1080p) at 24, 25 or 30 frames per second. Users can shoot at 60 FPS in 720p mode as well. Improvements over Canon’s EOS 5D Mark II include a more rugged and weatherproof body, a dedicated button for RAW+JPEG mode, a new multifunction button on the top right, plus a button for the custom controls menu. The Canon EOS 7D is due out by the end of October with a MSRP of $1,699.00.

This is not as fast as the Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM, and uses a linear extension system for focus adjustment driven by a Micromotor. This means that the autofocus is slower, and additional features are missing which might correct distortion at the edges. This is the lightest EF lens at 4.6 oz (130 g), and the f/1.8 aperture is adequate for shooting in many low light conditions. The Canon PIXMA MG5320 is an 802.11n Wi-Fi certified all in one color ink jet printer released in July 2011 along with the PIXMA iP4920 which has a similar design and features save for the wireless capability. These printers feature an update to Canon's Easy Photo Print EX software which brings creative editing to the table with Fun Filter Effects that can be applied to pictures before printing. Effects such as Fish-Eye, Miniature and Toy Camera are included as well as Soft Focus to make an image appear softer, and you can blur specified areas of an image using Blurred Background. Another nice feature is the ability to print directly onto CD's, DVD's and Blu-ray discs. The MG5320 uses the ChromaLife100 + ink system which employs five separate ink tanks and can print a 4" x 6" borderless photo in 20 seconds with a maximum color resolution of 9600 x 2400 dpi. Auto duplex printing is supported (printing on both sides) and a two-way paper feed speeds up the printing process, both of which are time savers in the office. Another upgrade over it's predecessor the MG5220 is the LCD display, which has been moved to the center of the printer and has also increased in size to 3 inches square. PIXMA Cloud Link is an online service for those registered with Canon Image Gateway or Picasa Web Albums which allows the user to print personal documents stored at PIXMA Cloud Link, as well as documents hosted by the above mentioned sites all via WiFi without being connected to a PC. The Canon EPP mobile app is at the time of release of the MG5320, being upgraded to facilitate the wireless printing of files such as PDF's and JPEG's from compatible iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch and Android devices.

The Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS is a compact and light telephoto zoom lens featuring a wide focal range that accommodates many situations, including portraits, sports, landscapes, etc. Due to its ES-F configuration, the unit is only compatible with Canon APS-C/1.6x FOVCF bodies. Critics have noted the unit’s bad build, in that the lens mount is plastic, and the focus ring is not all that smooth. Featured is a Micro Motor AF system that’s been touted as slow but accurate, a narrow aperture, and a short Minimum Focus Distance and yields a high Maximum Magnification. Both printers can print in color and in black & white at up to 22 pages per minute, and use a single toner cartridge system for easier ongoing maintenance. Print jobs can be sent through a USB port or through the built-in Network card, or can come from compatible memory cards. Scans can be sent directly to an email address, faxed, or saved to an attached USB storage device. The Canon Powershot SX210 IS is a mid grade 14.1 megapixel compact digital camera. The SX210 IS is fully equipped with a 28mm wide-angle lens, a 14X optical zoom and a three inch LCD display. Scans can be sent to a computer or printed immediately with a Copy function that allows up to 99 copies at once.
